Immune cell isolation from the brain and flow cytometry
Project:
The immune system is considered an integral component of brain development, homeostasis and recovery after injury. We are particularly interested in the immune response in different brain regions and the contribution of peripheral cells to the resolution or propagation of inflammation. More specifically, we want to understand how peripherally-derived macrophages can control brain microglial function. At NutriNeuro, we investigate these pathways in the context of different dietary deficiencies to understand the brain in clinically relevant situations. We are expert in immune cell isolation from the brain and flow cytometry and use multiple behavioural tests in mice to assess cognition, anxiety and neurological function. Our work essentially aims to identify dysfunctional immunological pathways in the brain and how they can be rectified during injury and disease.
